Default VNC - Unable to launch the applications

I'm trying to do a remote access via VNC, which we've done plenty of times in the past. However, it no longer works and I receive an Application Error window stating "Unable to launch the application." Once I select details, this is what it says:

    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I have the latest version of Java (v6.14). Here's my Untangle system info:

    Build: 6.2.0~svn20090527r23446release6.2-1lenny
    Java: 1.6.0_12

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

From what I've read there's been a recurring bug with web start throughout 1.6.x

The easy fix in my case was doing a minimal install of 1.5.18 and using that javaws. Hope that helps.

(By the way, you can leave the main java 1.6 install alone, you only need to use 1.5 for signed web start apps)

    Thumbs down

OK, I am sitting here at a client site ready to buy the module and I get the same error. Also, all of the UT default installs are Windows-centric. This is a Mac (OSX) shop! let's get a little tri-lingual here. Linux / OSX / Windows.

I tried installing the Java 1.5 install over my already updated version and it still crashes the same.

Hey UT guys! Either get serious about this module or put it in the freebee section. I'm mot going to pay for buggy modules.

Already been discussed, the RAP module is being replaced with something else entirely.

I have the same situation with RAP and I have 50 users using it.

I hope that this bug can be fixed soon then.

Does anyone know a work around for this? If I roll back and use an earlier version of Java will it work?

    Hi!
I don't know if this will help or not.
    this is just me thinking.

We do some java development and when user dev team test the different java versions they only change a regkey

    Under:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment

There is a regvaule name is "CurrentVersion"
try changing it to a older version. (you need to have that version installd)

read more about the regkeys on javas home page
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/runtime_win32.html

    Hope this helps.
