Ok i am having a couple of difficulties with deploying network browsing.
I am using the latest version of untangle (6.02) with all updates installed. Problem 1: Network browsing will browse to shares, however when i attempt to save a file the file will be names "get" with or without a file extension (depending on browser). Is there some configuration detail that i am missing. Related to the problem are PDF's, when i select to save a PDF it opens in the browser window. This is obviously slightly annoying. Problem 2: Uploads: It simply doesn't look like it works. I will select a file to upload and it will trundle along, it will be done uploading but offer no confirmation that the file uploaded successfully. If i hit refresh it will not display the file (tested in several browsers). However if i close the browser page and re-login to the portal the file(s) will be displayed. Am i doing something wrong? Or are these known issues? Attached are screenshots that i took. |

Looks like no one can be bothered to reply about RAP... probably because it is very flawed and to be honest UNUSABLE in a live environment. Here are my test results using an OS X 10.4.11 remote client:
1. Your first problem - 'Saving', or rather downloading, a file called 'GET' seems to happen when a user double clicks a file. Right click and choose Save from the context menu or use the Save button at the top of the Network file browser works OK though - preserving the filename & extension. 2. File upload - there is no upload progress displayed and to be frank, I gave up waiting for even small files to upload (60K). Saw no evidence on refresh that any attempts to upload actually worked. 3. The Network File Browser DISPLAYS ALL NODES on the LAN. This IS A HUGE PROBLEM - you wouldn't want school children to be using this - they will try accessing the headmasters PC guaranteed! If anyone has been sloppy with file permissions then they are wide open. Better to be able to ONLY show admin defined Global, Group or User bookmarks. 4. It would be very helpful to create bookmarks with system variables, e.g. You want all school pupils to have bookmarked access to their home directory. Rather than maintaining 200-1000 individual bookmarks (how many pupils are in your school?) why not allow UT administrator to create a group bookmark to something like - \\fileserver\pupils home\%username% ? AD user logs into remote access prtal and hey presto, the file browser link pionts to their own home folder - WHERE ALL THERE WORK IS ![]() 5. RDC and VNC seems to fall over connecting a remote Mac client to Macs on the UT protected LAN. 6. The first of three navigation buttons on the top RH side of RAP - "maximise content in a new window" (an up arrow icon!) is counter intuitive - you normally expect an up arrow to take you up a directory level. 7. The navifgation buttons do not work properly in Safari 4.0.4 8. UT RAP is UGLY as hell - it looks like a cobbled LINUX tool - and I'm afraid it works like one too Come on UT - put some work into this app! |
