Default Edit Reports for Captive portal

The report feature for the Captive Portal does not give me the username and password for the login. Is this feature editable so I can add the username logged in at [time] on IP [ip]

Thanks for any help in advance

As no one posted a reply I thought it would be best to try again.

I would like to edit the report for Captive Portal to show not only the username logged in at time, but also whay IP and Mac address they logged in on.

Hope someone can help ?

I've statically assigned an IP to MAC in Config>Networking>DHCP Server, assign machine names to IP Addresses in Reports>Name Map

That would be brilliant if I knew the Mac's but I want to be able to give my broadband access away for free to people near by, but stop them from doing anything illegal. Untangle blocks some stuff but not all using the LITE versions.

Therefore I would like a list of IP's cross referenced against usernames, incase anything illegal is downloaded or viewed.

Do you think this would work ?

I'm not concerned about blocks, but the stuff it lets through, so I realise I may have to log allowed access through to the web

Sounds like Directory Connector and Radius is your solution...

I was thinking more like the users create a username (their email address) and password of their choice which I can then add to the uvm database as the local Directory :-)

At the same time as recording the new local Directory username and password I want to record their MAC and IP issued by the DHCP server.

This sound like a cheaper option to Ad or Radius

It would be very wrong for Captive portal logs to ever show you anyone's password. That's really none of your business, except perhaps to allow you to set and enforce complexity requirements.

If you just want to see who logged in when, you can do that by viewing the event logs on the interface itself. The daily e-mailed logs are really just a summary.

If you would like the ability for Captive Portal to allow users to do what we call "self-sponsoring", that is a whole other feature request -- and it is a feature request, because it's not supported right now.

And just out of curiosity for the UT team - is self sponsoring on the radar anywhere for Captive Portal? I haven't needed it to this point, but I'm hoping to implement radius for my students in the next 18 months or so and it would be very nice to allow this for our guests after I turn that on, and even better if I can flag self-sponsored users to end up on a different rack in policy manager.

I do not want to see passwords, I was replying to the suggestion that I use Radius or AD. I want people to be able to login by creating an account for themselves. Username = email address and password = <password>

I only need to report on none blocked traffic and cross ref to a username, IP and MAC. The daily reports are pretty poor, I am going to have to mine the data myself as soon as I have passed data daily to my SQL server.

User sign up should be controlled through an external web page. Users would create their accounts themselves in the external RADIUS server.

The RADIUS server is where you'd do your custom reporting.

If I were to do this, I'd probably separate out my "free" user population onto a different interface on the untangle and use policy manager to put traffic there onto a different rack.

Everything else is just some simple PHP scripting and freeRADIUS.
