Default Commtouch Annual Subscription doesn't install

Hi,

I bought the "Commtouch Spam Booster: Annual Subscription" but I can't seem to get my Untangle box to work with it.
The Commtouch Service says: Free Trial Ended

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong ?

Marc

hi marc,

from your Untangle box click My Account, log into the store, click My Subscriptions on the left, expand your UID (check Commtouch) and click Reinstall - this will reinstall the license for Commtouch.

if this doesn't work go ahead and email support and we can take care of it.

Thanks Hlarsen,

When I try to reinstall Commtouch I get "Cannot set property href of undefined" in a window with title "Exception in MessageManager" .
And Commtouch App says "downloading" until the session times out.

My guess is that it's not downloading, just trying to connect.

It looks like my spam blocker is not using the quarantine either only marking. Strange !

use FireFox for the Reinstall, or do it from the actual Untangle box.

you can only Quarantine SMTP, is that what you're using? if so, the first page of the Spam Blocker settings has the option.

- Yep installing it with Firefox instead of Google Chrome did the trick. Thanks !

- I know only SMTP gets quarantined and now it seems to work, but only after I clicked "Scan outbound (WAN) SMTP".
This looks to me that inbound the emails are not quarantined.

are you in bridge mode?

if so, verify your interfaces are correct by going to a page blocked by the Web Filter - if it's black text on a white background, the interfaces are backwards. if you see a grey page with a logo, the orientation is correct.

if they are backwards, you can go into Config > Networking, grab the 4-sided arrow, and drag the interfaces to switch them. you'll need to be in Advanced mode for that, Config > Networking > Advanced.

Hi Hlarsen,

I think the reason the spam blocker didn't block any spam had something to do with Commtouch not being correctly installed.
Because now the spam blocker is working fine.

I moved the connections just to see what happened:
- I was disconnected from the untangle interface (from which I concluded the connections were correct in the first place - external administration is off)
- The page I get when trying to visit a blocked webpage is black text on a white background whether my connections are correct or switch around though.

Does this mean there is something else wrong ?

And yes, I'm in bridged mode.

spam blocker works without commtouch, so that's probably not it.

i'd give it a minute or two after you change the interfaces, then try to hit a blocked page again. you should get either the plain black text on white page OR a grey page with a logo and text for host, url and reason. the grey page with the logo is the one you should see if everything is correct.

Spam blocking seems to work fine now. So that's not an issue anymore.

But maybe there is still something else not completely right. Because when I visit a blocked website I get the message telling me I'm not allowed to do that in white with black letters.

I tried to change the connections once more. This is what happened:
- I started receiving spam
- I couldn't connect to the internet over port 80 anymore
- I didn't get a white or grey screen when I tried to visit because... I couldn't connect to the internet anymore.

Any ideas ?
