So based on the reading I've done I'm not clear on what Non Spam Messages are.
Are these emails tagged as spam by the Spam Blocker App but then overruled by Spam Booster? If so I'm very concerned at the numbers I'm seeing! (nor do I think this is accurate then). |

wait what?
spam booster just boosts the effectiveness of spam blocker. It doesn't 'override' or 'veto' anything.

carboncow, give us a call on the support line. From your many posts it seems like you could use a good conversation.

dmorris is acting like the Spam Booster help file doesn't talk about false positives and I'm simply asking where these false positives are shown so I know the effectiveness of this App. This is what the help page states: In addition, messages that may have been incorrectly categorized as spam by Spam Blocker (false positives) will now be passed through. From here: http://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/C...h_Spam_Booster Yes maybe I"m really confused to what a false positive is (I do make mistakes) and maybe you guys have just answers a few to many questions over the years! Snarkiness is peeking through on a handful of your daily support people. Hence this comment from dmorris, Non Spam Messages are messages that are not spam. Really? I appreciate the help but there is no question lack of patience is slipping through. I'll just bow out of the forum, this product works for me. |

Sorry. I don't know any other way to say it. False positives are messages that are classified as spam that are not spam. Theoretically an important message that is not spam could be categorized as spam, but booster could provide useful information that this is definitely NOT spam and hence spam blocker would adjust its score and pass the message correctly.

Spam Booster acts like any other Spam Blocker (spamassassin) test in that it provides either a positive or negative numeric score to the Spam Blocker process. All of the scores are summed at the end of the process and the sum becomes the spam score. If the final score is above your spam threshold then the message is classified as spam, otherwise it is not spam.
As dmorris said Spam Booster can supply a negative score to Spam Blocker; and a message that would be considered spam in the absence of spam booster might be scored as not spam because of this negative score. The counters in the Commtouch module in the rack only refer to what Commtouch classifies. So the Spam messages are what Commtouch recognizes as spam. The one exception is the Boost messages counter which tells you how many messages that Spam Blocker classified as non-spam but Commtouch has classified as spam. This tells you the effectiveness of Spam Booster over Spam Blocker. |
