    Default Question about Apps

    Hello,
Being that my company has many untangle boxes. It seems that most have different applications set on all of them. Plus some are Lite and some are Full. I know the difference between light and full but I do wonder as to what apps should be on every box.

Is there kind of a standard solution as to which apps should be running on an untangle box (lite or full).

    Web Filter App
    Firewall App
    Application Control App

    what else?

I have a client that is gearing up to deploy Untangle for their company. They have an active directory domain with an exchange server with multiple remote sites connecing via IPSec VPNs.

    Criteria:
Mail must be protected - reduce or eliminate as much spam as possible.

User activity should be monitored and have the ability to control it (will use group policies) - currently there isn't an effective means in place to do this.

Each site must protect its own connection to the internet.

All sites will need to be able to connect to each other via IPSec - they are currently using Cisco RVS4000 IPSec VPN routers connecting the sites. I've been running an Untangle Premium test for the past 30 days with no issues with the Untangle (they needed to purchase a 30 day extension to extend the trial).

With this in mind, I plan on deploying Untangle Premium at the main site (most likely use a u150) and Untangle Standard at the remote sites.

All sites will have the following active:

    IPsec VPN
    Directory Connector
    Policy Manager
    Web Filter
    Application Control
    Protocol Control
    Spyware Blocker
    Phish Blocker
    Ad Blocker
    Intrusion Prevention
    Attack Blocker
    Firewall
    Reports

For the main site I will also add:
    Spam Blocker
    Virus Blocker

This will enable me to connect each site to each other via IPSec, monitor the users at each site via the directory connector using group policies and protect their Exchange server.

When you look at the cost for each application versus the packages, you are better off purchasing the package that best fits your needs if you are going to use multiple applications.

I'm very thankful Untangle added IPSec to the Standard package for this reason.
