I am not happy or sad to see Kaspersky go, but Commtouch??
They are not famous for detection of new viruses from what I have seen in the past years. For example you can follow different vendors detection rates here: https://threatcenter.crdf.fr/?Stats This site update every day with new virus detection and I have never seen Commtouch in the top ten. If I could wish I would like to see even more engines to choose from in Untangle, I understand that if using 2 or more engines it will take more time to scan incoming files. But this is ultimately up to the admin if he wants to use more then 1 engine for the job, depending on hardware used etc. As I have used Untangle as a bridge at my former job with 50 employees, I have seen the differences it makes to have 2 engines instead of 1. You catch a lot more before the traffic hits your clients. Even when using both Clam and Kaspersky there were quite a few nasties slipping by anyway. To me it would be a great thing to be able to choose from a lot more antivirus vendors in Untangle, freedom of choice, if possible to implement of course. Ultimately a feature like Nortons Sonar, Comodos CIMA or upcoming Valkyrie, were behavior of the file is tested in their "cloud" before released to the client would be awesome. This is me dreaming of course , but this is how things evolve, ideas, ideas, ideas.Peace Esse |
