Well I knew something like this would happen after a while...
Off to a different product... Hmmm... let's see you have security features to block ads yet you put them on the web filter block page... That makes alot of sense... ![]() |

Everyone needs to chip in a little. And if you still have some beef about it, dig around in the source and disable it as it is an open source product....just don't post how to do it on this forum. |

Ad networks are one of the most effective ways to get Malware on a users machine:
http://blog.avast.com/2010/02/18/ads...93-jsprontexi/ Kind of ironic for a threat management device to deliver ads with ad poisoning such a problem but whatever. |

Are the ads still happening, or have they been removed? I have a fresh Untangle box and I don't see any ads on the Web Filter block page. I have not paid for any apps, but maybe I'm still in a "trial" period or something.
Here is my version: Build: 7.3.0~svn20100519r26664release7.3-1lenny |

Yes they occur, it is part of UT.
I would love to know if it has generated some revenue for UT or not, but i doubt they would ever tell us if their ideal fail miserably and drove people away...

Yes, it's generating revenue. How much?
I've been told it's "ridiculous" revenue. Time will tell if it's good or bad for the project. Money certainly helps, but it isn't the cure for everything. UT has to get and stay in the black, and do so for a good length of time before we'll see an increase in development resources.

I still don't see the ads. I am trying to figure out if Untangle will be an appropriate solution for our non-profit organization. The ads will be a deal breaker if they are really blatant. Can someone post a screenshot? Here is what I see (attached).

If you're a non-profit organization you need to contact a reseller. Untangle has completely different pricing for everything in that realm.
The Ads won't be there if you have a trial of any paid application installed. And the policy manager is a very cheap and powerful paid extra you should be considering anyway.
