Default How to Block HTTPS URL

    Dear All,

Is it possible to apply the web filtering list to connections using https ?
We would like to block https://secure.logmein.com as some users are misusing the service to login into their office pc during non-office hours to download.

Assuming it has a constant IP address you could use the firewall?

you can use your internal DNS and create a A record for secure.logmein.com
And point it to some other host or dead ip

    Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback. The esoft will be something to look into later, but not now....cost cutting period...

Webfool, i've tried the internal DNS method earlier (point back to 127.0.0.1) and it will work only if the pc are pointed to local DNS. Correct me if wrong here, if the user changes to another DNS ip, this may not work right?

yes, but you can use firewall to block outbound port 53 to everywhere except your DNS server

You could create a free account and use OpenDNS and block individual domain like secure.logmein.com

I believe someone posted a method of blocking by IP. Basically, you have to find out all the IP addresses that are used by secure.logmein.com. The method mentioned on here uses nslookup to find them. Once found, you blacklist those individual IP addresses.
