    Default Enforce Safe Searching

We're currently (until tomorrow) using Websense and it offers the ability to enforce safe searching mode. This is nice because it makes users use the strict safe search when searching for images. Is there any way to to this with the eSoft web filter?

No... but it's been filed as an enhancement for ages. Get into bugzilla and vote for it!

I did! We would really like to have that feature. I ran a test yesterday by disabling safe search on Google and Bing and then did a search for pornographic images. UT was able to block several of the images and sites, but there were still WAY too many that weren't filtered. We wouldn't even have to worry about that if we could force strict safe searching.

By default Google enables Safe Search. In other posts I've read how people started blocking the preference URL so people can't turn it off. I also read how other people were blocking image and video searches in Bing.

I believe that the default for Google is a moderate safe search, not a strict safe search. That's certainly better than nothing. As I recall, you can block the URL that lets you change your Google preferences, but I'm not sure how that will affect other Google services. I haven't looked at the URL closely. If it only blocks Google search preferences then I'd be pretty happy with that.

Yeah by default Google runs a moderate search. Enforce safe search would force the strict option.
