Default User Based Filter Override

Question:

instead of using an ip assignment for filtering override, why not have a temporary user/password that would override the filter for a set duration, its how Bess does it,

That would be great if Untangle tied in authentication...it doesn't.

He means it is a good idea for future development. Unfortunately the only thing that UT does currently with the domain integration is fix the logs so they are human readable. With a captive portal feature, and some internal authentication going with it policy rules could in theory be assigned dynamically allowing for a whole new world of customization. It just doesn't do this currently I'm afraid...

I know it's months later, but I'll second that this would be a great feature. I've got an Untangle box at a local Y and they've got some public machines for the kids. We've got them pretty locked down on the content side, but it would be good for the monitor to be able to bypass the proxy for a particular site. Now, if enabled the kids can just click the bypass button w/ out any authentication.
