Default AD Blocker, where do the updates come from?

On the Ad blocker it says you are using a 3rd party to import the blocker list. I'm wondering what is the source, and is it possible to add additional sources?

What seems weird is I keep getting: "Ad Blocker detected 394 ads and blocked 0 ads and 0 cookies."

What I don't understand is why isn't it blocking the ads? Everything is enabled.

Yeah, it's hit and miss. I believe the sources whitelist ads from some ad vendors.

Ad Blocker detected 277 ads and blocked 71 ads and 1446 cookies.
I'm more interested in the cookies than the ads, so I get some satisfaction out of the app.

I don't know the sources (the wiki says "easylist, ghostery, etc."), but to my knowledge there is no way to add sources, only filters. I don't know if there are ready-made filters that could be imported.

EDIT: Maybe take a look at the Ad Blocker / All Ad Events report to see what sort of stuff is getting passed. Feel free to post a screenshot of that report if somethings looks odd.

So, for example, some ads aren't ads at all:

'NUTHER EDIT: You can also experiment with Web Filter's Web Advertisements category.

Yeah so what are those demo.untangle.com that are getting passed? I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to make ad blocker work.

Those are just bits of UI data from the Untangle demo, as far as I know, and I don't know why they show up as passed ads. The thing I wanted to point out is that's skewing my Ad Blocker stats.

Can you please post a screenshot of this bit of your Ad Blocker Status tab?

have you updated the filters list?
It appears that a recurring manual interaction is required.

Thank you for the screenshot. I don't see anything out of place there.

Except is shows 9 blocked ads?

I reinstalled it a few days ago (hoping that was the issue). I’ve gone through the logs and history and nothing has been blocked.

The screen shot shows 9 blocked ads. I don't understand the -2 current sessions, so are you saying the 9 blocked ads is also an invalid value?

    Something isn't adding up...

Yes. There’s even a negative 2 in the screenshot. It’s really weird. In another screen it says 0 ads blocked. Really weird
