Well I'll warn you guys. I have experience with lots of "inline hacks" thanks to my time administering and customizing forum software.

You don't want to edit that file, back it up, and restore it to an updated version of Untangle. :P You might just break your quarantine outright.

This kind of edit on the surface is really harmless, but try to make it persistent over an upgrade and you're asking for trouble.

thats kind of what I was thinking too..

On the other hand if the devs add a setting to the UI for this, then I would imagine they would add what is needed to the backup/restore routine as well..

The direct http link works, but there is no way to change it in the digest email to use http.

So create a favorite link on the client and turn off the digest mails with your mail server? My clients don't want the darn digest mails, they just click the link that goes to their mailbox and look when they feel like it.

so now i have compiled the changes.
the file can be downloaded here http://fakenews.se/untangle/LinkGenerator.rar

and now it sends mail with HTTP.
For me this is not good as i use my external DNS name as url and on that interface i only have HTTPS on.

Hmm.. Sounds like we would need HTTP on a non-standard external port with only quarantine access allowed (not management).. Seems that this is getting more complicated all the time.

You could always specify the internal address in Config:Administration:Public Address. The only time I have really seen that used is in the quarantine emails anyway. Of course anyone external would be unable to view it until they VPN in or are on the internal network.

    I started a mess, didn't I?

Yes, this can be done. However, my users will not check the quarantine on their own. If they are missing an email, they will not check it, they will call me. Unless they get that reminder saying they have quaratined email, they will never check it.

Hmm I haven't had that problem.

Well hope the guys here can hack it together... if they do a good enough job it'll make it into the next release! :P
