    Default 7.0 Upgrade

My main unit finally got the option to upgrade this morning. So I figured, eh why not and clicked the button.

Imagine my surprise when the GUI said the upgrade was done and I was still on 6.2.

    apt-get update yields
    Code:
    Hit http://updates.untangle.com stable Release.gpg
    Ign http://updates.untangle.com stable/main Translation-en_US

    Reading package lists... Done
W: Conflicting distribution: http://updates.untangle.com stable Release (expected stable but got dart)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
Since this unit hasn't been modified in any way... I'm confused as to why it can't upgrade. Or perhaps this is just a sign of an overloaded back end?

Small update, no /var/log/uvm/upgrade70.log so I guess the upgrade never fired.

Look at the next to last line of your log. Did you make a mod to get an early distrib?

Nope, never touched this box other than to enable SSH. All my mods are in my VMs. This is the live server that runs my office network. Not a place to tinker...

Hmm I think I found the culprit!

This just got pulled out of apt.log

    Code:
    Err http://updates.untangle.com stable/premium untangle-libitem-professional-pac kage 7.0.0~svn20090806r24157release7.0-1lenny

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Looks like I need to contact support on Monday and get my subscription fixed. This unit was a professional bundle once upon a time and there is a line in there talking about Pro. So something must be stuck.

Yep - they should be able to sort it out for you.

If its no longer a pro pack unit you can just 'apt-get remove --purge untangle-libitem-professional-package' and remove it and then upgrade.

That nailed it, upgrade took about 5min and everything appears to have come forward nicely. I'm looking forward to playing with the new reports with some real data.

Only one oddity... and I'm not sure if it was a side effect of the pro removal.. but the live support option wasn't installed after the upgrade. Took 1 click to sort that.

Is this why the "super bundle" doesn't have a "one click install"?

you mean live support wasn't turned on in config? not sure...

super bundle will be a normal option (like pro pack) in 7.1

I'm not sure I like the one click install...

There is no way to remove it via the GUI after the thing expires, or an upgrade rolls around. And, the next time you guys change bundles up again... I'll be in the console playing with apt to get rid of the old "bundle" so I can upgrade.

    two more things I've noticed...

1.) The reports module was set to keep data for 33 days, and it was freaking out until I set it to 30.
2.) The first report I have ran fine, but it's showing data in the "web filter" module even through that module is disabled. The data showing in "Web Filter" is identical to the "Esoft Web Filter". There appears to be some sort of overlap.

FWIW, I had the 33 day setting issue as well.
