Default Additional Application in the Rack ?

has anybody looked to add a real time network analyzer, to monitor bandwidth utilisation and traffic levels on internal sub nets and on the external internet connection to the rack.

I know you can get some bandwidth data from the reports but it would be nice to be able to capture some in real time and perhaps have a graph like display and be able to filter on IP to see if one device is hogging more than it should.

Can be a useful tool to find machines that are infected in some way....

Bandwidth Control has a real-time Bandwidth Monitor, including filtering/sorting/grouping by IP and other metadata.

The bandwidth monitor is basically the same as the session viewer, but shows a couple additional columns for current bandwidth usage and also takes a few seconds longer to render while it measures data.

Untangle also has a nice library of command line tools that can be used. If you're familiar with Debian Linux they're pretty easy, if you aren't... it's likely best to stay out of there. Well, at least until you setup a lab to experiment on.

If you have SSH setup, iftop can display and filter by a number of things - interface, port, etc.
