    Default help with reports design!

Now is your chance to help design the next version of reports.

We're working on a new implementation of reports which should give a much better view of the data and activity on your network. We need some help knowing what people want to see.

IMPORTANT: you must submit to me (or this thread) a mock-up graph. Just mock something up in excel with fake data that gives me an idea.
Be creative - but I want pictures not descriptions, and be aware we don't necessarily have all data nor can we produce all graphs.

    examples attached.

I have an idea or two but just have a question.

Are these going to be live status reports or daily/nightly reports?

    great!

probably daily/nightly, although we're looking to somewhat blur the lines between pre-generated and live reports (currently "eventlogs").

I'd like to see something along the lines of this. These are basically hardware monitoring graphs. They're simple RRD files that record temps, disk space, load and traffic. If this were available in the regular reports, or at least an option for them, it would be one less thing I'd worry about. I've been burned by hardware overheating (no pun intended) before so having temps and disk space would help me out enormously.

Also, would it be possible to have resources per component (i.e. spyware, web filter...)? Having a breakdown so I knew which components were using how much would help with determining when my clients may have outgrown the hardware.

    Thanks for a great product.

Thumbs up I have already posted something about that..

    Before Untangle:

    After Untangle - Defaults:

    MODIFIED Untangle:

The click and zoom feature will be great.

    Also,

    1. A system Activity graph, something like gkrelm that shows memory, cpu, etc, like this:

    2. Smap graph/live_report like this:

    3. Under protocol control: something that shows live connections, like this :

    4. Under WEB FILTER a graph/log that show the categories of what users are browsing. For example, we are not blocking any category, just logging, but the reports don't show what kind of sites (categories) our users are going to, like this:

    Thanks!

MiniPilote, most of those look easy to do and useful - thanks.

It's good but NOT as good a my modified Untangle 5.2.1.

By the way, I finished my automated script for the Spam improvement and I'm testing it. I'll be posting it soon... if you don't mind.

Sure, here it is. I like what juank has but I'd like to see a resource breakdown by component (i.e. spam blocker, phish blocker....)

Let me know if you need anything else.

A dashboard showing bandwidth per interface would be nice... if anything to help me lock down where the heck the loser is that is bypassing the peer-to-peer blocks.
