Yeah, like I said without the hefty apps. If you look at your screenshots you will see the issues.
If you don't then in your case you should indeed run with 2 gigs.

    No YOU see it.

This article doesn't list Intrusion prevention as being a 'hefty' App. https://www.untangle.com/inside-unta...ance-guidance/

obviously, five 'low' memory using apps will use significant memory.

[SARCASM]Oh I get it, the car starts & runs just fine, as long as you don't put it into gear.[/SARCASM]

The point of my original post was that memory requirements changed upwards between versions for my typical operating environment. admittedly, I did not state what the specifics were initially.

or, maybe Apache IS falling over.

A friend of mine just stopped a server by enabling advanced mode's: Block New Sessions During Network Configuration option.

The unit stopped passing traffic, stopped responding on its IP address for the UI, and using the physical console to access the UI works, but froze after login.

A reboot appears to have restored everything, without changing the option.

Anyone with v12 care to experiment to see if the issue can be duplicated?

*Edit* Disabling the option did the same thing, also halting traffic until the system restarted.

The install was having reports errors prior to its upgrade to v12, and is currently unable to pull up a list of DHCP leases. So I'm thinking something else is very wrong with that install.

I wasn't able to see any issues. I toggled it on and off and everything came back normally after the network stack was restarted. Obviously with this setting enabled saving settings will cause downtime while networking is restarted.

Bug in v12 related to IPS.

Upgrading to v12, everything went fine. However I noticed IPS not blocking anything.

The fix was - export IPS list JSON. Import the list back in. Then it starts working.

Probably because the IDS used to do virtually nothing. The current IDS is pretty hefty. I have 30,000 rules set to block and it can require a whole lot of power.

I upgraded to an i5 w/8GB of ram as my Untangle box so I can run everything and max everything out.

I mentioned this to support about a week ago. In fact just rolled back to beta, thanks for telling me how to fix will try now on my v12 install.

Just imported IPS list and it is now working. I don't actually use it, but it was bugging me that is wasn't working and wanted to report to support the issue.

It got some more time on the box. I'm not sure if it's a Proxmox issue, or an Untangle issue, or something between them not agreeing yet. But what's happening is networking is trying to restart, but it's waiting on eth0.3 to become free, forever. So it simply never restarts. So on this install anything that needs a networking restart becomes a reboot required.
