    You probably meant Ubiquiti there.

But I agree with you. Ubiquiti/UniFi is great with their Layer-2 and AP stuff for the price, hands down. But as soon as you throw Layer-3 into the mix, it wants you to do router-on-a-stick with their UAG... the kind of setup any network guy would shout at you in disgust: "For shame, sir... for shame!"

That AR thing is cool, though.

Yes... I didn't change subjects there...

I use Untangle for layer 3, Unifi for 2

There have been a few situations where I've felt a gen 2 switch for some layer 3 before Untangle would be nice... but the configuration makes my head want to hurt. And those things they call UTMs... UGh...

And for the record, I have the same problems with Meraki.

What do you mean I just paid $700 for a router plus some ungodly amount for a subscription and I can only have 1 IP on any given interface?

In addition to compatibility with browsers and such, eye candy also sometimes compromises security with fancy ajax and javascript. I'm waiting for someone to make a BBS skin. lol

Yes, I understand that functionality is more important, but a nice modern design on top won't take anything away.

Yeah, I did want to defend Untangle here as well. And my response is triggered by the fact that they took my suggestion (while I was a non-subscribing user) for a GUI improvement and implemented it!

And then, that concept got greatly expanded on with the introduction of the dashboard.

Untangle is not letting this product get stale, in any way. They might not be keeping up with the flashiest paint job or blinky LED lights. But what is under the hood produces wins.

I like what they are focusing on.

Heh.. yes.. UI does show some patina. We do have a dangerous plan in place to revamp the UI across products, so please stay tuned.

    Untangle 9? Try Untangle 5!

If you can even get that Java applet to run anymore...

Untangle Skin selector should be updated or the skins in there could be updated That makes a unprofessional impression to have something that does not work. (Out of all skins provided just two work and that even if it works as intended!)

The other part of Untangle is - Darn it Off-Topic - Ill create a new thread...
