    Default Wireshark

    To whom it may concern,

I'm sure we all know what Wireshark is and what it does. It has become an invaluable tool for the SMB and enterprise network administrator in everything from troubleshooting to forensic analysis of networks. Being that the Untangle platform is an edge appliance as well as a bridge device, I think it would be excellent to have Wireshark included in it's list of applications to install. I think the real power of Wireshark on the Untangle platform would become much more obvious if the Wireshark filtering capability was combined with Untangle's reporting system.

    But its just a thought...

on untangle box, you can run tcpdump and save dump to log. You can open that log on you own machine with wireshark..

    yeah, probably a good idea.

in the meantime you can to as rsoares suggested.

    tcpdump -s 0 -w foo.ptrace -i eth0 -n

    then open foo.ptrace in wireshark

That is what won me over... a security appliance that actually lets you tinker around under the hood and add whatever features you need. It freaking ROCKS!
