    Default Deep Packet Inspection

    Hi,
I am working on Deep Packet Inspection.
Also I have writen code to do DPI, which gives upto 2Gbps of speed. I just want to know whether I can incorporate it into Untangle.
    Can anyone suggest me.....?
    Thanks.

Sure... Untangle is riding on Debian. You can add almost anything you want. Except a beer cooler.... trust me, that doesn't work well!

I can't find the link now but I remember a guy who modded a mini fridge to house his PC. He had just enough room left when he was done to stuff in a 6 pack...

it won't do much, untangle actually does full layer 7 processing, so all packets are discarded and then recreated in a new connection on the other side. 'deep packet inspection' doesn't make much sense in this model as there are no packets to inspect!

    but,as for as my knowledge
It uses Snort,L7,ClamAV regexs. To do pattern matching it has to create some database, and to discard packets it has to perform DPI...

    It does and it doesn't...

UT matches the features that DPA performs but it does so with a different process entirely. The actual engine is very different than a normal router.
