Default How can I do development on Untangle?

I have learned the Untangle product for a few weeks. It is a great product.
However, I need to add some new features to this product for my project. The untangle integrated so many open source projects and I cannot get a clear scratch for it, not to mention the developing environment.

Can the untangle Inc. provide more information and tools for developing on this platform?

    Thanks very much.

Default Should I download the untangle project on sourceforge?

    I am still confused.

I download the untangle_source_5.3.0_20080708r17105.tar.gz source package from the sourceforge website. I have seen the source tree in this package, but I can't see any makefile or other files which can help me to build the untangle myself.

I want to add something to the untangle to validate some ideas.

    Thanks very much.

That developers host an IRC. They can answer your question there.

it is built with rake, the easiest way is to start with an untangle box from an ISO CD and install the untangle-development-runtime and untangle-development-build debian packages

Default Where can I get this two packages?

Could you provide a link to the untangle-development-runtime and untangle-development-build debian packages?

    Many thanks.

It is in our main repository. So if you have the following in your /etc/apt/sources.list:

    deb http://updates.untangle.com/public/sarge stable main upstream
    deb http://us.debian.org/debian sarge main

    Then you can just run:
    apt-get update
    apt-get install untangle-development-build untangle-development-runtime

    Default Compile failed

I downloaded the source tree of untangle, then type 'rake' in the src directory. The compilation failed with the following error:

Who can tell me how can I correct this failure?

    Thanks very much.

    run this:

    export SRC_HOME=.

and then run rake again. I've updated the developer page on the wiki to reflect this. Sorry for missing this in the first place.

    Default followup

The source tarball has been fixed so that the SRC_HOME workaround is unnecessary. You can get the new tarball from:
    http://downloads.sourceforge.net/unt...0r20839.tar.gz

(It does add another directory level, so pick your poison :-)
