why the 3 nic limit?

I would like to try untangle at my church but i do not ned a dmz i need a second internal network(obviously with a different ip and such). I currently have an astaro machine there which gives me no limit on the number of nic or how i want to utilize them. Are there any plans for untangle to change this?

3 Nic limit? Try 7... and that is a limitation of the Linux kernel not Untangle. (technically 8 nics, but 1 is reserved for OpenVPN)

I currently have a unit in service with 6 interfaces. Works great.

yes but is it doable through the admin panel?

If you use Untangle as a router, add another card, give it an IP address in a different range, tell Untangle how to route traffic, and that's it.
