Default shutdown and restart by web interface

Hi, could you please look/build a plug in that will allow you to shutdown and restart by web interface?
    Thanks.

Restart is already available under Config --> System
The addition of shutdown would be nice though.

Yea. It would be nice to have a power/restart button next to the computer status right at the top. If any one is able to create this module, please reply to this posts.

The shutdown option was left out intentionally to spare careless admins the embarrassment of leaving the box in an unusable state. You can perform all of said operations via SSH.

Definitely gets my vote! All other the Firewall apps. I've used (IPCop, Smoothwall, Endian, Monowall) have a shutdown option in the web console. It's absence in Untangle is a little bit odd.

re: The shutdown option was left out intentionally to spare careless admins the embarrassment of leaving the box in an unusable state. That's a pretty poor excuse.

re: You can perform all of said operations via SSH. But only if SSH is enabled - which by default it isn't.

Poor excuse? It was a design decision. UT was designed to be operated by small biz owners/employees not IT pros. So they eliminated the shutdown option to prevent the careless people from killing their boxes remotely and having to run across town to boot the thing back up.

The fact that "other" stuff has it doesn't mean UT should.

If you want it, head over to bugzilla and file an enhancement request so people can vote on it. Arguing about it here does no good.

Yes, I will vote on it in Bugzilla

It is always good to watch the competition, they might actually be doing something right.

IMHO: "Careless admins" in reality are unemployed.

"Careless Admins" = SMB Owners that aren't IT pro's. Don't forget UT's market focus.

Care to post a link to the bug on Buzilla?
