Let me slip in my vote for this feature. Comcrap DNS's periodically get hosed and I have to find alternates to use. The only way around it so far is to modify the clients to point DNS at the desired servers. This means I have to modify each client. If I could do it at the Untangle box, it would save a lot of manual configuration on the clients.

    Default OpenDNS and NTP

I have been using an IPCop box for many years. I thought I would switch over to Untangle as it is more advanced in several areas. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed/added though.

One has been mentioned before concerning OpenDNS. I too would like to specify OpenDNS servers while leaving my "External IP Settings" to DHCP. I was able to alter the dnsmasq.conf file and change the DNS servers it hands out, but this file seems to be overwritten when making any changes in the GUI. Also, OpenDNS can be updated via a DynDNS client but your DynDNS client only allows a connection to one external server. If you could change it so I can also update OpenDNS with my IP that would be helpful. Again, I tried to hand-edit the ddclient.conf file but I'm afraid it will also become overwritten and OpenDNS only accepts updates via SSL, which Untangle's current version of ddclient doesn't support.

Secondly, my IPCop acted as an NTP server for my home network. It would be great if you could add and NTP server to Untangle.

Any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated and allow me to go to using Untangle permanently!

Thanks for putting this great resource out there!

    jkernsjr, antimidas:

you'll be able to override your DHCP settings with static DNS in the next version (Thunderbird)
we're also working on the overwriting issue - we'd like to define a more graceful way to overwrite files with changes.

    thanks for the feedback!

Gotta throw my into this topic. If it is not already happening, it would be great if OpenDNS and Untangle would collaborate on filtering... it seems to me that both companies could benefit from this as it could make both companies' filters better and more complete.

Untangle handles this itself. Click Setup Info under the Config tab on the left. Then the Timezone tab in the window that opens. It shows your timezone and the current time.
