    Default BETA Now available

I'm pleased to announce that Untangle SD-WAN Router beta is now available.

As you may have seen from recent surveys that we sent out, Untangle is working on a new product: Untangle SD-WAN Router.

Untangle SD-WAN Router is a lightweight network edge appliance that can be deployed either with Untangle NG Firewall to provide a Software-defined networking solution for multi-site locations, or on its own to optimize network performance.

For more information on Untangle SD-WAN Router, see our SD-WAN Router documentation

The easiest way to try out Untangle SD-WAN Router is to set it up on Oracle VirtualBox or on VMware ESXi. It is also available to install on a Linksys WRT 1900 ACS device, with more options coming soon.

Instructions and downloads can be found at these links
Installing Untangle SD-WAN Router VDI on Oracle VirtualBox
Installing Untangle SD-WAN Router on VMware ESXi
Installing Untangle SD-WAN Router on Linksys WRT devices

We welcome your feedback on feature requests and on any issues you find.

We have installed Untangle SD-WAN Router on Turris Omnia devices and tests have been fine so far. Full support is not planned immediately for these devices, but we do use them in house and can make the build available to anyone that would like to try.

Are we going to get a normal installer? Or are we left to take these images to try new platforms?

What do you mean "normal installer"? Most of these devices do not have video.

This is true, but we have a Linksys image, which presumably is ARM based. Then we have two different VM images, which are what? AMD64? You can't emulate ARM on VMWare or Virtualbox.

I guess what I'm asking is if we're going to get some sort of disk image to use directly, generically? Such as a .img?

Presumably we'd be imaging platforms to do this. So what image types can we expect? And what architectures?

The esxi image is an x86 64 bit disk. It is running openwrt x86 64. I got it running but now I have to figure out what to do with it and why. LOL

We will make Untangle SD-WAN Router available with some hardware that will come with the SD-WAN Router pre-installed. We will provide images for Linksys Routers, Oracle VirtualBox, VMware and we're open to feedback. For now we recommend using VMware or Oracle VirtualBox to take a look at the beta.

Untangle SD-WAN Router is a network edge device that provides network connectivity and network optimization. It monitors the performance of all network links and routes traffic based on application type and link performance in real time. So for example, if the performance of a link drops below certain thresholds of latency, packet loss and jitter, it can fail over to the next best link immediately.

The esxi vmdk runs fine on proxmox. Will it be a free or paid software?

Thanks for confirming you got it running on proxmox. Nice to hear! It will be free for certain home or home lab type installations, e.g. Linksys installs and Oracle VirtualBox installs. Our own hardware appliances will have a paid subscription. We'll announce more on that later in the year.
