    Default u50x pfsense

    Hey y'all,

I understand that this may not be allowed or maybe no one tried--but I'm interested in repurposing my u50x box and installing pfsense on it instead. Has anyone done this? Can I install a different OS on the box?

It's your machine, it's just a computer. Plug in a keyboard, mouse and monitor and knock yourself out.

There is absolutely nothing stopping you, the barrier to entry is so nonexistent I'm left wondering why you're here asking? You need some random stranger's permission on a forum to modify your own property?

You have it I suppose... go forth... do the thing!

haha its not so much that, its that I'm worried about wiping the OS on there and losing everything. I suppose I can download the configuration and that way, if I need to reinstall Untangle, I can do that.

Yes! Just get the ISO, use Rufus or something similar to "burn" it to a USB stick and let it rip! The same process works for PFSense, OPNSense, Untangle and a bucket of others.
