in UT, the Total Memory:2088.96Mbs, while i use :free -m , and it shows total memory 1992, what's the reason?

And mega is 1024 thousand

actually a megabyte is 2^20 bytes, or 1024*1024 bytes, or 1024 kilobytes, all of which equal 1048576 bytes.

to look at it another way, a megabyte is ~4.86% more than a million bytes.
