Default Intel 3160 Wireless adapter not installed properly

As I mentioned before I have installed Untangle on a Zotac ZBOX CI323: https://www.zotac.com/us/product/min...box-ci323-nano

The system has a build in Wifi adapter which is a Intel 3160 which is not properly installed by Untangle:

    Code:

The driver requested "iwlwifi-3160-10.ucode" is not in the default install, only "iwlwifi-3160-09.ucode" is. I have downloaded the newest drivers from Intel website (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...000005511.html).

I update the driver to "iwlwifi-3160-10.ucode" but even with this it's the same issue.

BTW: Same issue was discussed before here but threat was closed with no resolution: https://forums.untangle.com/networki...-detected.html

This is supposed to be working according to Debian Jessie and Intel support pages so not sure what the issue is?

Wireless support in UT is new and limited. If you want full compatibility use an AR9280 or a dedicated AP.

Indeed. The Atheros AR9280 and in my case the AR9380 works flawless in Untangle. The Intel cards, not so much.

Yeap, wish I would have known that before I bought that Zotac box. Now I am of course stuck with the difficult task of soldering that Intel Wifi chip of the integrated board and replacing it with a AR9280 that works.

Anybody has detailed instructions on how to do that or could it be possible to lend a helping hand to fix this in software before we go down that drastic hardware replacement route?

It's soldered to the board..... Normally they just use these mini-pcie/m2 slot cards. That would have been easy. What is the name of the motherboard you have in there?

Well it's a custom board in a Zotac nano system.

Anyway instead of dealing with this HW issues I have found a better solution running pfSense and Untangle. I use pfSense as my main router and run Untangle in a VM on my Mac Mini (without the HW issues) as an UTM only. This seems to be the best solution for now with least effort.
