    Default U25 vs U25x

I just received an email about the new U25 appliance (or rather X series appliances). I noticed the price point is a bit lower for the U25x over the original U25, but how do they stack up performance wise? Also is it possible to order a U25x upsecced with more RAM and storage or do they come from your supplier the way you sell them as a package?

The u25x is capable of full gigabit and is a faster system.

If you don't have gigabit, its unlikely you'll notice any difference in real world.

You can not modify the RAM, if you want more consider the new u50x.

These new boxes are exciting. I can't wait to dig deeper into the details.

The is no customization of the Untangle hardware other than what is show on the store. The new X series appliances will handle Gigabit Internet connections which an improvement our customers have been asking for.

I'm going to recommend the u50x to one of my customers later this month.

"The u25x is capable of full gigabit speeds"

Does that mean full gigabit speeds while running apps like Virus Blocker, WebFilter, Firewall and Intrusion Protection?

Also i have a u25 with Untangle Home before the changes where made to that bundle. Will upgrading to a u25x in ANYWAY change my current subscription or features?

Yes, as with any hardware, with a moderate amount of sessions. Frankly any IPS is just a resource hog with little value unless you offer network services to the Internet.

Bummer. I saw the new hardware announcements that prompted me to look again at the u and m series, and I was starting to think the u500 might actually work for my next refresh... but for the disk. I know want I better than a single 7200rpm disk, and was hoping I could rip out the drive and clone it to a quality SSD.

totally agree i shut down IPS a while back. On my u25 i am only seeing 720 Gb/s speeds with nothing running. I guess i am trying to figure out if the u25x is a significant upgrade or more of a side grade from my u25. I would really like to get as much of my 1 GB/s as i am paying for it.

If i should pull the trigger i guess it would be best to call sales rather then buying on line? I don't see an option to purchase the hardware without the software and i already have a lic for my current u25

i assume the x25u comes with 13.2 on it?

    Thanks

If you already have a license just click on "SELECT" and then change software to "NG Firewall Platform Only" (ie - no subscription)
