Default Untangle Full Restore - Physical Host

    Help!

I lost my Untangle box (Disaster), would not boot in any mode, safe video, hardware safe - NOTHING, exhausted all options!

Have reverted to pre-untangle mode, re-routed traffic on network straight out (default routes on core switch) - now its the Wild West - but business needs internet, somewhat of a set back, but it is what it is.

I don't have a spare box, I have re-use the same hardware, I "do" have Cloud backups, safe in Google Drive and Dropbox and on USB keys, made 1 day before HW crash. NO config changes between that last cloud backup and crash time.

So, here is my dilemma and request for advie

I cannot rememeber the basic Network config, got no screenshot (note to self for next time!)

What is the quickest way to get box back up and running (offline) Restore all the config, and ready it so I can slot it back in EXACTLY as it was before, but this time booting and restarting properly without faults

Here is what I think, can someone please correct me:

    1. Check Disks on Hardware Server for integrity any faults get new ones (RAID1)
    2. Update BIOS of mainboard and controllers etc for the HP DL620 1U box
    3. Download latest Untangle ISO/USB creator
    4. Destrucitve Wipe Disk fresh install
    5. Set up basic logon

From here on I am stuck...

I want to restore everything from the cloud backup, without any disruption to network, then do a bunch of COLD, WARM Server restarts to ensure its ok before putting back in the live Enviroment

Could someone please help with "detailed" steps 6 and onwards

And, Can i use the latest version and Restore from cloud to that, I was on 15.0 I think, someplace in those .js backups it might tell me right?

    Thanks Very much folks

    Tim

Login to Command Center and download the backup. Command Center will also list the last seen version.

    You're over complicating this...

You have a configuration backup, install the version that matches your backup, put said backup on a laptop, configure Untangle with all defaults, log into the thing with the laptop, and restore...

The unit doesn't never need to have anything networked to it, aside from the laptop to do this.

Once the restore is done, test the thing... make sure connectivity works. Confirmed? Plug it in! Test again... Good? Move your sub.

Of course, figuring out why it died would be a great idea before you reinstall, but you seem to have that idea covered already.

Only settings are restore. You must first have to install Untangle on your hardware. Once Untangle is running, go to http://<your_lan_ip>/admin/index.do#config/system/restore and select your backup file.

Yep, restore does everything but report data. There's a drop down on the restore page that allows you to "restore without networking"

THAT restore, removes everything from the networking tab from the process, THAT is the restore that doesn't do your IP addressing. But a full restore does everything you need to put a server back into production.
