Upgrade u25w

I have a u25w that is well out of warranty, so I am not opposed to opening it.

I can't update to the latest version of NG Firewall. I understand there was a shift from MBR to EFI.

What I would like to do get another larger M.2 SSD and format it, and install the latest NG Firewall.

The u25w has 2 gig of ram, can it support more?

I don't want to burn any bridges. That way I can always revert back.

After things are working, I can move the Home license.

Can someone point me to the procedure and/or offer advice?

The upgrade block is due to the install being 32 bit. Debian is dropping support for 32 bit so we were required to do the same. Nothing to do with UEFI.

Also you can install 64 bit version without any hardware changes. You can take a backup of the current settings, install 64 bit from the same version, restore then fully upgrade.

What's the latest version? I'm on 16.0.1. Does this mean I'm on my final upgrade?

Check in Config -> About. If it has AMD in the kernel version, then you have 64 bit. If not, you are on 32 bit.

Notice: 32 bit installer has been EOL. Existing 32 bit systems will upgrade to this version. This is the last upgrade for 32 bit systems. Backups from 32 bit will restore on 64 bit installs.

Sorry, not my point of the post. Mainly for reference to others just noticing.

You are running 32bit. Notice it has 686 in the kernel version. And on the last upgrade.

Ok. Thanks. So can you post a link to the appropriate download I need? Will it be an executable I run? Mine came preloaded so I'm pretty clueless about installing Untangle.

You will need to install Untangle from USB. Instructions are at:
