I am not sure but some things get set during install and I doubt they get updated when you upgrade the memory. Swap being the main one. Google will probably know of others?

Sounds like the box is doing updates and stuff and using up memory. Only 4 ? Ram is stupid cheap why not go 8 ? I know we have all talked about this, its a beaten horse too! Every z4 box i sell to a client i always double the ram & disk.

I don't know how long this install has been around or how many upgrades it has survived. One thing an upgrade would be good at is stressing the hard drive. I would take a backup and reinstall. Have a new hard drive available just in case.
    Good luck

I get it but these things came with 2G of memory from Untangle. I guess I'll replace the memory again but I'm afraid that in doing that the box will fail. It's 5 years old.

Shoot me a link to what you think I should buy (memory). Thanks

The spikes are exactly at 5AM every day. How can I determine what is happening at 5AM?

Most likely the drive is dying and during the reports, there are issues with writes so the DB is rebuilt. I would replace the unit ASAP. Also, the u25w is quite old, I believe 4G memory is the most the unit will use. Almost all the test units have died in my lab.
