    Default untangle for windows 6.2.1 alpha!

    The new version of untangle for windows is alpha is finally available!

    The new version is based on 6.2.1 which has all the updates from 6.2 (including ad blocker) and a bunch of other changes:
    * Vista now officially supported
    * Base virtualizer is now Sun's VirtualBox
    * A new implementation of the systray application
    * A new untangle introduction during installation
    * Many usability improvements
    * Many reliability improvements

    We could use your help testing it! please give it a try and let us know if it works on your computer/network.

    A couple notes about the release. Please read these!

    *Incompatible software with U4W
    **VM Workstation
    **VW Player
    *Host computer is not protected by Untangle running on it; only peer computers.
    *Only English hosts are supported (also only english inside U4W is supported) - non English hosts U4w won't detect network cards correctly
    *Minimum of 1.5 gigs of memory required.
    *Vista specific
    **Lanuching the installer on Vista can take up to 2 minutes before any sign is seen that the installer has started.
    **Vista also displays a permission warning in which "allow" must be selected to start the installer. This warning can be hidden under other windows if the user does any other activities while waiting for the installer to start.
    **On each start of Vista; the systray must given permission to start.

    Nice Work again!!!
    Will download and try to setup on my swedish system.
    And see if i can get around the "*Only English hosts are supported (also only english inside U4W is supported) - non English hosts U4w won't detect network cards correctly"

    no, unfortunately i think it only works on english systems - we're looking to fix this in future versions.

    btw, what is your "Network Connections" called?

    It diden't let me install But that was expected from the info.

    Do you know how it is verifying the network?
    I mean "ncpa.cpl" is the same in all XP so i don't get what the language have to do with it...

    And i get no funny Logs in eventview.

    It's probably got to do with some custom stuff thanks to VirtualBox... the VirtualBox product is a bit... odd.

    It's like many open source programs, so close yet so far away. Sound familiar?

    I Extracted the VMDK file from the setup.
    Will try booting it in Vmware to see what hapens.
    Othewise i will try Virtualbox and see what hapens there..

    yeah the VM isn't VMware... Virtualbox and VMWare VM's are NOT interchangeable.

    i know .
    But the virtual Harddrive is a VMDK.
    And to my knowlage that is a VMwares file system.
    Virtual Box have suport for it. So probobly they moved the old one (that was wmware) to Virtual box.

    and they have some VMware info sill left in the setup
    Try launching VMware console. %(brand)s is not running, try starting it from Services or the...
