Event log doesn't appear until I hit Refresh

No matter which rack unit I'm in, the Event Log does not appear until I hit the Refresh button. Is this a bug or a feature? If it's a feature, why does it behave that way?

It's a feature, and it's to prevent massive interface lag.

I wondered if that might be the case. I figured that in some cases there could be a pretty decent wait for the page to populate, especially on a slower machine, but I wasn't sure.
