    Default Untangle is restarting services by itself

    The last two nights at about 9pm pacific time web browsing completely stops, and it just did it again while I am typing this out. The unit does not reboot, just UT stops responding. I go into my RACK and all stats are is at zero's again.

    When i go to log into the web gui:
    Untangle Server
    Service unavailable

    I was ssh'd into the box the whole time. No loss of connectivity to it nor did the box reboot.

    i could not telnet to port 53, could not ping yahoo. Maybe ntop is crashing UT? That was the last change i did.

    Has anyone had this problems recently? If there were any updates for UT I would see what needs to be updated because I have that set to notify only.

    I am not opposed of reinstalling but I would rather try to isolate this and fix it rather then doing the good old "Just reinstall, that will fix everything" approach.

    Any specific logs I should check?

    Default untangle-net-alpaca could not load database

    After uninstalling ntop last night, I noticed the web gui is not coming up. It will come up when I log in locally (KVM attached) and after logging in the RACK disappeared and there is nothing. I cannot log into the webgui locally now. Last night it wanted to download apps and and the wizard started. Very strange. Rebooted several times and sill no luck.

    I just ssh'd into the box and issued the following:

    Code:
    ~ # /etc/init.d/untangle-net-alpaca force-reload   [root @ storbaelt]
     * Stopping Untangle Net-Alpaca  [ OK ]
     * Starting Untangle Net-Alpaca
    * untangle-net-alpaca could not load database schema '/var/lib/rails/untangle-net-alpaca' [fail]
    return: 24: Illegal number: -2
    Bummer...at this time I think its to hosed to bother figuring this one out. However I wont be reinstalling it for at least another 6 hours so if someone has any further ideas, let me know.

    yes i have a backup to import

    see if there is any process causing it to not function from the even log. Removing ntop dosent actually remove its traces but not sure if you have to reset the iptables in order to make the web browsing and the access via browser to work

    I have been having the same problem for about a week now, was just thinking it was my system and planning on calling support but just have not had the time. I can browse internally but cannot get to any external sites. Tried turning off all the modules but still nothing. The only thing that helps is a reboot. If I find anything out I will post it.

    I think this is happening to my box too, but at 2am. It does, however, restore connectivity without intervention on my part, but I don't know enough about linux to look at the logs myself, and from what was mentioned in another thread, the logs contain a lot of red herrings.

    I am having the same issue, losing external and DMZ connectivity once a day or so for a few minutes at a time. I looked in /var/log/messages just now when it happened, and noticed that at about the same time, the process "ctasd" (commtouch daemon I think?) is catching a SIGTERM and restarting. My very-uninformed suspicion is that the downtime has to do with definition updates for various modules... perhaps it's possible to re-schedule those updates, so that at least the downtime happens in the middle of the night?

    sigh, this is like 5 different people with totally unrelated problems.

    similar symptoms != same problem.

    please start a new thread with full information if you want help.
