    Hi,
When you get the login screen instead of the x session there is something wrong.
Try boot to the Hardware Safe mode.

I too am experiencing this problem (system boots mormally but switches to text mode when installation bar completes) and am also able to access the system remotely via a web browser.

This is not a "stopper" as far as I am concerned but infers an underlying problem.

My system is configured as a "transparent bridge"

I have tried this on two systems:
    P4 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, 40GB IDE HDD, Fujistu-Siemens D1451, mobo 2x Intel Pro/100 PCI
    E2200 2.20GHz, 2GB RAM 40GB IDE HDD, Gigabyte G31M-ES2L mobo, 2x Intel Pro/100 PCI

Although both systems have an on board NIC, I disabled then and fitted PCI NIC's as I experienced issues with the install routing detecting on board interfaces.

both systems exhibit the same problem.

If you're booting and getting a console login, you most likely have hardware with an incompatible video card or monitor.

Try video safe mode, if that doesn't work you need to get a better graphics adapter. Untangle requires an 8mb or better graphics card. Some systems have on board that defaults to less than this in the BIOS. See if you have an option that controls graphics ram and boost it.

If you aren't using an on board graphics card, you need to find another card to try.
