    Default Ip address problems???

This is my first time using UT or any software of its kind. After installing I find I cant easily change the ip address. Right now its looking like 127.0.0.1 with my mask at 255.0.0.0 I am trying to change it so that I can use the web interface. I have been here baffled and stumbling around this thing for 6 hours now:confused . Please help and thanks in advance.

When I installed it I didn't have it hoked to any network devices. I was hoping to set all that up after I had everything working. A friend suggested that I am having issues because it would want to have that stuff hooked to it. Thoughts?

    Start over.

Plug the external interface of the untangle into your existing network.

Run the installation wizard and the configuration wizard. Leave everything to it's defaults, except make a choice about bridge or router setup when asked.

Now you can plug a device into the internal network and test to your heart's content.

However, I really don't understand why you can't just click on configuration->networking and change the internal and external IP addresses.

    Big Frickin Disclaimer:
While I'm pretty sure, I can't guarantee that I know what I'm doing. There might be a better way to do this, and this way might actually suck. Make sure you understand the implications of what you're doing before trying to follow these directions.

It often helps troubleshooting if you have a good network map. Look here if you want my advice on how to draw one.

I will try hooking it up and reinstalling UT. I cant get to configuration->networking because I don't know how to do it in the terminal and the GUI doesn't have anything to click for that and I cant get to the web interface which is my reason for wanting to change the ip address. The 127 ip range is reserved for loop back connections.

you need to click Launch Client on the Untangle box rather than Terminal.

That button doesn't do anything at all. I click it but I don't get any response of any kind.

it should open a web browser that automatically connects to the webGUI.

you might want to go into Recovery Utilities and set everything back to default to see if that helps.
