Updating system questions....

So i have a untangle 6.x system installed at church and for some reason or another it does not want to update....So I am thinking of wiping an installing the new version 8....my question is that if I save/backup my untangle information to my thumb drive, install version 8 and then restore my configurations settings...will that work and will that be complete or will there be other things I need to go update/change....If that will not work then what is the best way to accomplish this...Thanks....

6.x -> 8.0 is a pretty big jump but you could try it.

If you're going to be using the same box I would just be prepared to reinstall from scratch if the restore doesn't work.
