Default Not sure what I need to do....please help

    Hey everyone,

I need some basic help information.

I would like to set up untangle in a network environment that does NOT have an active directory or a radius server however I would like to monitor each users activities (bandwidth usage, web traffic, port blocks).

Basically I want to be able to track every users complete activity and I want it to be logged in the report.

What do I need to do/install to make this happen.

    Help appreciated.

    Hi welcome to the forums.

You can track via IP/machine name without any configuration. Just install the apps.

If you want actual usernames then you will need to create usernames in the local directory for each user and then use captive portal and directory connector to force them to login before using the internets. This will basically track the usernames behind IPs.

Can you set up groups in captive portal.

Where as a set of computer (ip's) have an idle timeout of 5 hours and another set of computers (ip's) have a timeout of 5 minutes?

We have some computers that are shared, I don't want a long timeout for them.

i don't think we can do that, the Idle Timeout is for all CP clients.
