you can ping updates.untangle.com?
what does 'host updates.untangle.com' return?
what about 'apt-get update'

PING updates.untangle.com (74.123.28.44) 56(84) bytes of data.
--- updates.untangle.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 3999ms
When I run the apt-get update it says something about so many files available, 0 files installed, etc. Dont know exactly, I would have to go onsite again...which is not close.
Any other ideas?
idea #1: enable ssh so you don't have to send someone there every time.
i don't think updates.untangle.com will reply to pings.
from Config > Networking > Troubleshooting, do a DNS Test for updates.untangle.com, then try a Connection Test to port 80 on updates.untangle.com
It sounds like he's got a packet filter rule that is halting traffic to Untangle... or something upstream is preventing him from talking to Untangle and only untangle.

yeah, weird that it resolves with ping, but apt-get can't resolve it.
something weird going on for sure...

did you do the connection test?
Also, I suspect that what you're seeing is that the previous upgrade did complete by had an issue that prevent the upgrade in progress screen from being removed.
On top of that you have a flakey network/dns that is causing error messages.
Try running: '/usr/share/untangle/bin/ut-show-upgrade-splash stop' from the command line and see if that fixes the issue.
