    You probably weren't suggesting I did, but I didn't install any drivers. I just used the default 'Untangle_811_x64_vmware.ova'.

    The drivers are already installed in the appliance package. you dont remove any drivers to switch to a different nic type. those are in the settings of the VM....

    I've just checked the Untangle VM's virtual hardware, and all vNIC's are set to type E1000. Maybe it's just a 'first time boot' thing? I can't check to see if it still does it because I have no Untangle VM VDU while it's booting.

    The VMXnet driver is part of the tools installation, you aren't using it so stop worrying about it.
