Default Java using alot of CPU, CPU Load 10+!

Since this morning, it seems my server firewall Java is acting up

my load is at anywhere from 6-19 today and i do not know why.

Nothing has been touched on that firewall.

i ran TOP and Java is using %50 of the cpu, this is Intel C2D E7500 with 4G of ram.

just curious what steps do i take to find out what is causing this issue?

    I have

    Virus scanner
    Firewall
    IPS
    Protocol control
    Attack blocker
    Reporting running

i disabled all services, but firewall and spikes still occuring

Just rebooted and right away i am up at 13 load.

i turned off again AV and it dropped to 2.6, turned AV on and it jumps back up so i assume clamAV is acting up with the java?

doing a remove and add it back see what happens.

I had random issues with CPU spikes end up being APT...

I REALLY wish we had a UVM specific task manager that could show us how much CPU / ram was burned by each rack object inside that java process. It would make this type of thing much easier to troubleshoot.

Given the realities of Java, I'm not sure that is even a realistic wish!

wondering if someone is trying to DDOS us, i see connections and all seem to use the same bandwidth amount at the same time.

I never did, but maybe with the combination of these commands help in troubleshoot.
pstree and ps to identify the process and their dependences
renice +20 to the suspicious pid, off course at your own risk
