Default Install other software on host machine

    Hello,
I'm not too familiar with Linux and Debian. I have UT installed on an Intel machine and as far as I understand the UT installer installs Debian and then runs UT as a VM.

Is it possible to run other software on the Debian host or create another VM to run additional linux software? Would this work or would it break the UT updates?

I looked for forum posts on this subject but couldn't find anything.

    Thanks!

Untangle, is "based" on Debian Lenny, it however is NOT Debian lenny. Untangle is its own distribution.

You can install other stuff, but doing so puts your Untangle into an unsupported state, that will likely cause you grief on upgrade. The information you seek is on these forums, but it is well hidden because you really shouldn't be mucking about under the hood unless you know what you're doing.

Excellent! Thank you. It is an under-utilized box and I wanted to get more use out of it. I appreciate the clarification that Untangle is its own distribution. Untangle is a fantastic product and your advise it sound and I'll leave well enough alone.
