    Default Quick Question regarding DHCP

    Hello,

I have AD distributing the DHCP for my network clients,

I will be putting this in the setup of Firewall/untangle/network

what settings am i making sure are disabled/enabled so that untangle does not do any DHCP leasing?

if you put it into bridge mode DHCP should be off by default, but you can always double check at Config > Networking > DHCP Server.

as son as i bridge the connections.... i can no longer ping the untangle server

it sits on the same subnet as the rest of network, 255.255.255.0, and has a static ip, gateway is set as the router ip

probably should mention we have Adsl lines in the office

    gateways are 10.0.0.175/177/178

they all site on the 255.255.255.0 subnet

untangle will only be effective on the gateways i specify is that correct? ( i.e. the gateway i setup in network menu)

should say 3 adsl lines, these are for different purposes but primarily the internet for users is on 175 gateway

You're not going to be able to deploy a UT bridge on that network.

UT will destroy whatever is in the gateway field of the packet and replace it with the single gateway it is configured with.

In short, all packets will go out UT's gateway.

You're going to have to do something. UT with wan balancer can do this as a router.

However, no matter what you do UT will override whatever the clients put in the gateway field of their packets with the gateway UT is configured to use. So without the paid module to give it support for multiple gateways, this project is doomed before it got started.

You could do this with three UT servers all in bridge mode, wire them in right before the respective gateways.

the paid module, which one? money doesnt need to be an issue. this is testing phase, so if it can work with one server and on our current setup all is good.
