Default VERY IMPORTANT 9.0 upgrade issue

Please note if you followed my howto here:
    http://forums.untangle.com/tip-day/1...g-3-steps.html

    or here:
    http://forums.untangle.com/tip-day/6...-alerting.html

and your box updates to 9.0 your hard drive space will become maxed out. This is because those instructions have you change the syslog to localhost and with 9.0 they added their own syslog monitoring so it becomes an endless loop.

Disable the syslog monitoring under config->administration->monitoring right away if your box hasn't upgraded to 9.0.

If you box has already upgraded, then you need to ssh into the box and delete /var/log/uvm/events.log and then disable the syslog monitoring.

Please follow my new directions here for re-enabling active alerting in 9.0.

Dirk, is there any reason /etc/ryslog.d/untangle.conf will get overwritten according to my instructions here:

I think if you modify your syslog settings, it will write out that file again (ie, set it to log to a remote host). I haven't looked at the code, so I can't say for sure.

That's the only bit that I could see changing that file.

Of course, if we tweak settings between versions, we'll overwrite it.
