    Default Untangle frozen

At exactly 7pm local time tonight (9am GMT/UTC) my (Virtualbox on Ubuntu) UT box froze. CPU usage 0%, blank screen, no disk usage.

After waiting the better part of an hour (nothing changed) I rebooted the box, and cancelled the Splashy screen, so I could see if it froze on boot.

I have no idea what version of Untangle it is currently. I have it on auto-update, so would *assume* it is (or close to) the latest version.

Here is where it is freezing on boot:

And after rebooting, going into Recovery Mode, Update, fix halted update, then Update...

It freezes halfway through the update (currently frozen for the past half-hour)

Then after another reboot, Recovery Mode, Update, Continue halted update - it finished.

    All running fine now.

... until I go to http://my-untangle-box and get this:

Upgrade in progress. Do not reboot or power off the server!

Of course, I have not rebooted or turned off the server. I went to bed. When I got up this morning, nothing had changed.

Going back to the last time this happened: http://forums.untangle.com/installat...de-frozen.html

I have gone in and run a "ps aux" and "pstree" as directed by dmorris:

Awaiting instructions. No rush this time, I don't need to go into the settings to change something like last time. So long as I still have internet and my email is being filtered, there is no rush.

    Try the command:

    /usr/share/untangle/bin/ut-show-upgrade-splash stop

... and I'm in. Thanks again.

Do you think this will happen to me every time there's a major upgrade?

If you reboot in the middle of the upgrade, yes.

I have automatic upgrades turned off, and it was 7pm it kept freezing on me..

    Never mind, I've reinstalled Untangle.

Have a weird spam problem now, but I'll post in that subforum about that.
