    Default Dead NIC replacement

Does untangle detect newly installed NIC driver if a faulty one is replaced with different model/brand?

Not automatically, you must click the refresh button in config -> networking -> interfaces.

For some reason it didn't detect a replaced NIC even after refresh and restart but after reinstall all was ok, not sure why as I am new to linux and just wanted to know its behaviour. Is there any manual process to install drivers like in windows?

There is, but you don't want to do it. Untangle changes too frequently to make that process realistic. This is why I use Intel, it's always supported.
