untangle connectivity on new install problem

Hi all.
I have spent quite some time browsing this forum and could not find an answer that works in my situation.

I recently setup an Untangle server in "transparent bridge' mode.

I put it in between our Cisco PIX firewall and our main switch.

The connectivity tests pass on the DNS portion [our DNS server is inside our network] but when testing TCP connectivity it failed.

I have they typical two network card setup. The internal network card is going to the switch, and the external network card is going to the PIX firewall.

I gave the External nic a static address of 10.0.1.4 [verified available on my DCHP server] used our typical subnet, default gateway , DHCP and DNS settings, and did the same with the Internal.

Tests failed.

I tried putting the internal on a different subnet, with the same subnet mask as top card, tests still failed on the "TCP connectivity" portion.

Could this be something in the PIX preventing the access, or do my network settings in Untangle look out of whack?

any advice would be appreciated.

does anyone see anything wrong with my setup?:(

if you open a new tab on the Untangle, can it browse the web?

The internal MUST BE configured as bridge, no ip address

thanks this is very helpful. I will try this when i am in early tomorrow

if i want it to use my internal DHCP server do i have to input that information in the networking part of Untangle or do i leave it blank?

You would put the External to DHCP mode, and Internal Bridged.

Is not a best practice, its better let a fixed ip address (out of dhcp scope) to external in untangle.

Who says?

I use DHCP on "servers" all the time. IP reservations make a nice self documenting list of network assets. That's one less document I have to keep for a client. (Incidentally, static IPv6 is a nono)

That said, external's configuration is what Untangle uses to get "online" if that Ip configuration is wrong, it can't get online.

It needs fixed for the server to work. "How" is a different question entirely and only the OP can answer that. We can't see the network in question.
