That sure sounds like how it should install, not mine. I'm starting to think something is flakey with the hardware.
Now V9 can't find the CDROM. V10 looks like it can't find it either, just hangs with 'Boot from CD?DVD. V11 gets started,
Partition disk
Install the base system
Configuring apt
Select and install software (564 of 564)
preparing, unpacking and installing for lots of programs and libraries (maybe 15 minutes)
Then stalls comes up with the message ‘Installation step failed. You can try etc.’
I have spent too much time on this. I think a new computer is the solution.
I have 8G ram. I just got time to install using 64bit USB image and it's working fine.
Hard to say. Possible a bad iso download.
For the update, I bought a new computer over the weekend, and it worked. Not only worked, but recognized the onboard nic, the intel nic and my quad port realtek nic.
I'd like to say thanks to sky-knight, kevin1ab, jcoffin, fastteck, and especially jim.alles. Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I hope to be able to do the same one day for someone else who I don't know.
