We WANTED a weak filter that cost nothing and was easy to use.
It appears to me that you (or some of your clients) are just miffed because they no longer get something for nothing! This is not uncommon; many people are upset when something that they take for granted is taken away from them. In fact it seems to be part of human nature.

Rather than dwell on something you think was rightfully yours and that you have unfairly lost, look at it the other way and celebrate the thousands of hours of free web filtering gifted to you by the good folks at Untangle. They gave you something of great value completely free of charge to you!

...they/we are opposed to the idea of automated censorship and prefer the supervision/discussion approach.
And that's what Web Monitor gives them exactly - no censorship but the tools supervise and data to support discussion!

Celebrate what you've got (for nothing) rather than what you think has been unfairly taken away from you.

Turn off upgrades and just stay on 12.2.1 and have Web Filter Lite forever, problem solved.

But it doesn't actually filter anything...

And if you have a client that is having a hard time with Web Filter, and is OK with Web Filter Lite, I'm utterly confused. If the interface is difficult, then you leave the module at its defaults and aside from preventing access to blatant porn and malware, the functionality is virtually identical to what's now provided for free with Web Monitor.

Oh, and no I don't suspect people are putting that little s in the URL, I assume the users aren't even typing into the address bar. Users that don't know computers don't type web urls, they ask google for a search result based on a web URL, and Google spits back HTTPs links via an HTTPs protected search result.

In other words, Web Filter Lite doesn't "filter" anything, which is why it's gone, because it doesn't actually serve a purpose anymore. It did once, but it's gotten progressively more useless over the last half decade. So now instead we have a nice new module that provides actual insight into how a network works, and provides a direct output of data that shows the value of the paid module.

It's now a proper long term, free trial, of the paid product. As such, it is fulfilling the job the Lite module is intended to fill. I'm sorry that you feel this is somehow hurting you. And if you want to keep web filter lite, you're free to do so, just stop upgrading. If you should decide to upgrade, enjoy the new insights into your network provided by the new module.

Well then congratulations. You now got a state of the Art web monitor, also you now can monitor HTTPS and by that you will have a much more professional supervision/discussion approach
